Jiří Vondrák
A Czech musician, writer, playwright and documentary director. A participant of international music projects, among which are “Terra Vysotsky” and “Okudzhava World”.
Was a close friend of Bulat Okudzhava, wrote a book and filmed two documentaries about him.
In 1995 Jiří organized Okudzhava’s very last concerts in Brno and Prague.
“When tanks entered Czechoslovakia in 1968”, Vondrák says, “Russian became the language of the occupier for us. But Vysotsky and Okudzhava managed to recover our love for the Russian language.
I translate these songs to Czech and sing them with pleasure.”
